Thirty-six students from around the East Greenbush Central School District, from East Greenbush to Nassau and North Greenbush to Schodack, attended their first day of school at Red Mill on Monday as part of the new Pre-K Program for four-year-old students. During their first day, students colored, looked at books, gathered for circle time, ate breakfast and lunch, learned classroom rules and enjoyed recess.
“We are excited to welcome our new Pre-K students and families this week!” said Superintendent Jeff Simons. “Working collaboratively with Questar, everything is in place to ensure our youngest and newest students to the district are guided on a path to success!”
The Pre-K Program, which is located at Red Mill and operated by Questar III BOCES, is free for families. It is funded by a state grant and the American Rescue Plan.
Students were selected for the Pre-K Program through a lottery earlier this month.
