In celebration of the American Library Association’s TeenTober and as a community outreach project, the East Greenbush Community Library generously donated 50 book goodie bags to Columbia High School on Thursday. The Teen Librarian Jenna Zaborowski, in collaboration with Columbia Librarian Kate Banks and English Teacher Laura Gedney, handed out the book goodie bags to Columbia’s Alternative Program English students during class. Each bag had a book, craft, bookmarks and treats for the students to enjoy and take home.
“The students were so happy to have these special gifts,” said Mrs. Banks.
Ms. Zaborowski labeled each bag with a description of the book inside to help guide students toward a book they would enjoy reading.
These books will be used for independent reading and during the English Department’s Drop Everything and Read days that have been scheduled throughout the year.
“Our students are so fortunate to have support from the strong community collaboration that has been built between the Columbia High School Library and the East Greenbush Community Library,” said Mrs. Banks. “We want to send a heartfelt thank you to Jenna Zaborowski and the East Greenbush Community Library for their generous donation and for always supporting our students in every way they can.”
