The East Greenbush Central School District has finished Phase 2 of its Capital Project that was approved by voters in 2017, and plans to complete the entire project by the start of next school year.
The objective of the Capital Project is to improve aging infrastructure in buildings across the school district. It includes replacement of aging systems, safety and health improvements and updated technology and instructional classroom spaces that will benefit students, staff and visitors.
“We are fortunate to have the support of our district and the state to continually make much needed improvements to our buildings and grounds,” said Director of Facilities Paul Bickel.
This past summer, work included classroom and hallway bathrooms, new classroom cabinetry, roofing, masonry, paving, HVAC systems and energy-efficient lighting controls.
“We continue to proceed with health and safety upgrades to our schools, improving handicapped accessibility and modernizing our classroom environments,” said Superintendent Jeff Simons. “At this point, we continue to press forward within our schedule through material delivery delays and workforce shortages. We are grateful for the community’s support and interest in maintaining our schools.”
The district recently added a 4th phase to the project, which includes replacement of heating and cooling pipes throughout Howard L. Goff Middle School. That work will be done within the existing budget and should not impact the project timeline.
