Bell Top 4th graders read the graphic novel When Stars Are Scattered recently. As a follow-up service activity, they raised $130 for the charity Refugee Strong, which was founded by the man whose story is told in the book, by selling bookmarks they created.

The colorful bookmarks with words such as “Love,” “Caring,” “Humanity,” and “Compassion,” were displayed on a table in the hallway. Teachers and staff were invited to purchase the bookmarks for $1 each.

“To say that (students) were moved by the story and all that they learned about refugees around the world in lessons leading up to the novel study is an understatement!,” said 4th Grade Teacher Tracy Cornell.

Special thanks to the Bell Top teachers and staff for supporting this fundraiser!
