
Columbia High School held its annual Pi Day Recitation Contest on Monday. The winners included Akkhil Morkonda (1st place), Gabe Cecunjanin (2nd place) and Alex Snedaker (3rd place).
Columbia High School and Howard L. Goff Middle School celebrated Pi Day with with a variety of math activities on Monday. Pi (π), which is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, is observed on March 14 each year as the number begins with the digits 3.14.
Winners from Columbia’s annual Pi Day Recitation Contest included:
- Akkhil Morkonda ’23 – 1st place – 156 digits – Received Table Talk Pie, Gum, Pi Pencil, $25 Amazon gift card
- Gabe Cecunjanin ’24 – 2nd place – 46 digits – Received Table Talk Pie, Gum, Pi Pencil, $15 Panera gift card
- Alex Snedaker ’24 – 3rd place – 41 digits – Received Table Talk Pie, Gum, Pi Pencil, $10 Amazon gift card
All other participants received Table Talk pies.
The Columbia Math Department got into the spirit of Pi Day by dressing up in a Magnum PI theme.
