Green Meadow treeThe following letter was mailed to Green Meadow families on Thursday, August 18.

Dear Green Meadow Students and Families,

I hope you have been enjoying the summer months.  As we head into the end of August it signals a new school year will be starting shortly.  I am looking forward to welcoming students back into the building. To all of our new families, I extend a very warm welcome from the Green Meadow community.  I am confident that you will find Green Meadow to be a warm and caring place that provides an outstanding education to all of our learners.  Our first day of school for all students will be on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022.

General supply lists for all grade levels are posted on the Green Meadow website.  The school website can be accessed at egcsd.org/green-meadow-elementary. Supply lists are posted in the “Parent Information” section.

We have a very active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Green Meadow Elementary School.  They support our students and staff in so many meaningful ways.  If you are not already actively involved, I encourage you to do so.  Please click on the PTO link on the Green Meadow website to sign up for text and email alerts regarding PTO items.

Our PTO will be hosting the annual Welcome Back Social in the backyard of our school on Friday, September 9th beginning at 5:30 p.m.  This event is a great way for families to get together after a long summer. Our PTO team will share more details as we get closer to this annual event!

Green Meadow is very pleased to welcome many new staff members joining our team this year:

  • Caroline Colwell, K-2 Transitions Teacher
  • Andrea Lubbers, Band Teacher (Grade 5)
  • Donald Ingoldsby, Teaching Assistant
  • Katherine Wills, Teaching Assistant

Enclosed with this mailing is your child’s classroom/teacher assignment.  School supply lists for each grade level and neighborhood bus routes are available on the Parent Information tab on the Green Meadow webpage of our district website.

As a friendly reminder, students entering grades 3, 4, and 5 who attended East Greenbush Schools last year, brought home their district-issued Chromebook at the end of the school year. Please make sure your child(ren)’s device is charged and sent to school with them on the first day of school.  Students entering grades K-2 and students new to the district will be issued devices during the beginning weeks of school.

This year, we welcome our incoming kindergarten students and their parents for a “Kindergarten Meet and Greet” on Thursday, September 1st. This will be a time to visit their classrooms, drop off supplies, and meet the teachers before the new year begins.

The first day of school for students in Grades K-5 is Tuesday, September 6th, 2022.  School opens to students at 9:00 a.m. and Dismissal is 3:30 p.m.

Arrival and dismissal procedures for parents driving students to and/or from school are outlined in this link: Parent Transport Procedures.  Please be patient during the first few days of school as we hone our procedures.  If you plan on transporting your child to and/or from school on a routine basis, please be sure to fill out the Transportation Needs Survey at: https://egcsd.org/departments/transportation/bus-routes.  Please also email Joanne Nolette at NolettJo@egcsd.org.  If we are not notified of a parent pick-up in advance, your child will be sent home on the bus.

I would like to extend a special welcome to our incoming Kindergarten students and their families, as well as any students in grades 1-5 who will be new to our school this year. I know all of our new students will find Green Meadow to be a school that fosters a love of learning!

I am looking forward to the start of the school year with you and your child.  Enjoy the final days of summer!  Should you have any questions regarding the opening days of school, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Daniel G. Garab
Principal
