Dear Genet Families!

Welcome to the new school year!  We have had a wonderful and exhilarating first few days together.  I am very excited to welcome all of our new families to Genet and reacquaint with current ones.   For our new families, my name is Wayne Grignon and I am the Principal of Genet.  My family and I live in Mechanicville and have five children – the youngest being twin girls who are in Pre-K 4 this year (picture below on their first day).

This year we are also welcoming new staff at school.  I would like to welcome and introduce to the Genet Community:

  • Andrea Lubbers – Band
  • Aimee Kot – Teaching Assistant
  • Jayne Scanni – Teaching Assistant
  • Maria Fernandez – Monitor
  • Lawrence Perez – Music
  • Noah Vice –  Physical Education
  • Zachary Kuhn – Physical Education
  • Alyssa Petranzink – Pre-K
  • Amanda Hoffmeister – Pre-K Teaching Assistant
  • Gianna Di Gregorio –  Social Worker
  • Samantha Wagner – Special Education Teacher

The Genet Team and I are excited to welcome all these new staff members to our school community and look forward to working with our students and families!

This year we look to continue to build upon the successes from last year while focusing on addressing learning needs for all students and, with the PTO and your support, continuing with Genet traditions that our students love and enjoy. Together we will continue to work collaboratively as a School and Community to make this year the best we can for our students; because they deserve the best.   The staff and I are eager to work with you to make this a happy, fun-filled year of meaningful learning experiences for your child.  My door is always open to our families!  I look forward to a wonderful school year together!I wish you all the best this weekend and look forward to next week together at Genet!

Sincerely,

Wayne Grignon
Principal

Updates from the Physical Education Office by Mr. Leyhane and Mr. Vice:

Our refinished new gym floor and updated logo and painting has really brought a new level of excitement within the Genet Gym!  We are working rules for the gym with our students so they are aware of expectations and then we will begin our Soccer Unit where there will be a focus on skill development and some games played.

Tomorrow there will be information regarding the Genet Running Club that will be open to students in Grades 3-5. Students can sign-up to participate.  Running Club will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Students will need to be dropped off at Romer Field (Off of Elliot Road) on Running Club Days.  Attached to this post is the permission slip for Genet ‘s Jaguar Running Club Informational Form.  A hard copy will be sent home with students on Monday, September 12th.
