Students at the Genet Ice Cream SocialHappy Friday Genet and Pre-K Families!

Our first full week is now in the books and students are learning their new surroundings well. The crisp cool weather at night is a telltale sign that Fall is just around the corner (September 22nd).

Our Ice Cream Social last week was a wonderful event where I was able to meet many of you and have students see their teachers in a different setting. I would like to thank the PTO for organizing and hosting such a wonderful event for our community. A special shoutout to our Genet Team for scooping ice cream and toppings!

Today we held our first Character Education Assembly outside in our courtyard. It truly was amazing to have our students all together and learn about our September character trait “Integrity.” We also discussed our Pride Paws where staff can nominate students who are exhibiting our character trait of the month. Students selected will have their names read at the next morning program (9/30). While our auditorium is under construction, I am sad to share that we will be unable to have parents join us for these events until the work is finalized. Once it is, I will let families know!

Safety Drills will begin next week and will continue through this month and October. These include fire drills, lockout and lockdown drills. On Wednesday this week, we practiced our first bus drill. I applaud our students for being attentive and demonstrating active listening to their bus drivers. A special shoutout to our 5th Graders who were excellent role models for our younger students and also helped the Bus Drivers getting younger students off the bus. In regards to Genet Safety, this week your child came home with a letter outlining our safety protocols.  I have attached it to this week’s Journal for your review.

Thank you for your support of Genet Elementary School! I wish you all the best this weekend and next week!

Sincerely,

Wayne Grignon
Principal
