Dear Genet Families!

Happy Tuesday on this shortened week! We had a great time today at Genet with our PTO and Student Council sponsored “Fun Tuesday” with Comfy Flannel Day!  Thank you to the PTO for arranging the popcorn today for the students. It was a wonderful way to close out this week as a school community.

As a reminder to our families, there is no school starting tomorrow Wednesday, November 23rd through Friday, November 25th. Genet looks forward to seeing our students back on Monday, November 28th.

Here are a few important updates for families:

School Lunch Online Payment Option:

The EGCSD offers an online meal prepayment service through MySchoolBucks.com.

There you can do the following:

  • Setup automatic recurring payments
  • Automatically add money to a student’s account when the balance runs low
  • Receive low balance email notifications
  • View their child’s purchase for the past 90 days
  • Nutrition information is available to parents within the MySchoolBucks website.

Breakfast and Lunch Menus for December:

December’s breakfast and lunch menu for Pre-K and students in Grades K-5 can be found here: https://egcsd.org/departments/food-services. If you have any questions regarding your child’s lunch account, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Kitchen Manager, Mrs. Beyor.

Genet’s School Day:

As a reminder to our families, I want to share the schedule for students at Genet. Here is a review of our bell schedule and what the bells denote:

  • 8:40 AM – Signals Student Arrival
  • 8:55 AM – Late Bell –  any students arriving after this bell will be tardy to school
  • 3:05 PM – Dismissal Bell – bell will begin student dismissal with an announcement

Parent Drop Off Reminder:

If you are dropping off your child(ren) at Parent Drop off in the morning, I ask for your patience to ensure that all students are dropped off safely.  Some students get out on the other side, so please remain in a single file line when dropping off in the mornings. I appreciate your attention and support in this matter.

Reminder: Parent-Teacher Conferences November 29th and December 8th:

Our first Parent-Teacher Conference date is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29th. If you have not yet scheduled a time to meet with your child’s teacher and discuss their academic progress, please reach out as soon as possible.

Our second date for Parent-Teacher Conferences is December 8th.

Both days are half-days for students and dismissal will begin at 11:05 AM.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the Genet Main Office.

Genet Morning Program – Friday, December 2nd:

Kindergarten will be kicking off December’s Character Education Program for our school! Our program will begin shortly after arrival. We look forward to seeing what our Kindergarteners have come up with!

Genet Picture Retakes – Friday, December 2nd:

School picture retakes will be on Friday, December 2nd. If you would like to have your child’s pictures redone, please send them in dressed for their retakes. Pictures will take place after our Character Education Program.

Colder Weather Ahead:

As the colder months are ahead, please make sure to send in your child(ren) with appropriate clothing for outdoor recess and other activities (i.e. PE on gym days).

Attendance Matters:

Going to school every day, on time and ready to learn is the first step to doing well academically. Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school is important. If your child is healthy, they should be in school. Here is a hyperlink with additional information: Attendance Matters.

Students that are high in absences will be receiving phone calls from Genet regarding the number and how their child is on a pathway towards being considered chronically absent. A formal letter will also accompany any contact from the school or from the Principal. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to either Genet’s Social Worker (Ms. Di Gregorio) or myself.

Thank you for your continued support of Genet, and from our family here at Genet, we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Wayne Grignon
Principal
