The Columbia Girls’ Varsity Indoor Track team won the Section 2 Division 2 Championship on Saturday at Shenendehowa. The team made up a nine-point deficit going into the final two events to surpass Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and capture its first indoor title since 1985.
Leah Vitale, Gabriella Laquidara, Molly Simmons, Kaitlin Bogucki (4×800 Meter Relay), Natalie Krisanda (Pole Vault) and Sophia Galligan (Shot Put) all won individual championships.
The Columbia Boys’ Varsity Indoor Track team placed second at the Section 2 Division 2 Championships. They missed out on their fifth consecutive title by just .5 points.
All events aside from the throwing events took place on January 28 at Union College. The throwing events took place this past Saturday at Shenendehowa.
