Goff 8th grader Riley O’Kane playing Annie in the musical “Annie Jr.”

We stopped by a dress rehearsal earlier this week to speak with 8th grader Riley O’Kane who is playing the lead role of Annie. She played Timon in last year’s production of “The Lion King.”

Q: How are the rehearsals going so far?
A: They’re pretty good. I think everybody from the beginning until now has made a lot of progress. We’re trying to figure out who our characters are and how to develop them throughout the time that we’ve had.

Q: What do you like about your role?
A: Annie’s kind of spunky, sassy and she’s an adventurer. It’s fun.

Q: What is your favorite scene or song from “Annie Jr.”?
A: I would say “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.” I’m not in it but it’s upbeat and it’s really fun.

Q: Why should folks come out and see this show?
A: I think everybody would love it. There’s a really nice story behind it. There’s history behind it, too.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
A: The set is really cool and the stage crew has taken a lot of time out of their days and helped out a lot. There are a lot of parents who are helping out with the sets, the cast party and the dinner.
