A student performs at the District-wide Instrumental Festival

Students perform at the 2023 District-wide Instrumental Festival in the Columbia High School auditorium.

Fourth graders from across the East Greenbush Central School District had the opportunity to hear older students play all of the instruments in the music program as part of the 2023 Instrumental Festival this week. The two-day concert is meant to showcase musical options for students before entering 5th grade.

In addition to each of the bands and orchestras performing as groups on stage, music teachers Scott Halliday and Susan Chrzan talked about each of the instruments and had individual high school students play samples of songs for the audience, including “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Go the Distance,” and theme music from Super Mario and the Pink Panther.

Special thanks to our orchestra and band teachers: Mr. Halliday, Mr. Kusche, Mrs. Cioffi, Mrs. Chrzan, Mr. Bresnahan, Mr. Lawrence, Mrs. Lubbers, Mrs. Scolaro and Mr. Tario!
