Capital Project

The East Greenbush CSD has proposed a $116 million capital project that, if approved by voters, would improve facilities and grounds at all seven schools at no additional cost to the local taxpayer. The proposed capital project will be a proposition on the School Budget Vote and Board Election ballot scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

STOPit Solutions logoThe East Greenbush Central School District has partnered with STOPit Solutions to provide students and families with an online reporting tool designed to deter and mitigate bullying, cyber abuse, and other inappropriate behaviors.

We will be launching STOPit on Monday, April 3.

Anonymous reporting can be done through an online form or the STOPit mobile app. Once a tip is submitted, it is sent automatically to school administrators (or when they are out of office to a STOPit Incident Response Center which is operational 24/7). Once the report is received, school administrators will respond to the tip.

Students are encouraged to bring any issues to a trusted adult, whether that is a parent, a teacher, a bus driver or principal. Now they can also use STOPit to reach out for help if they or a peer are facing a personal crisis or experiencing bullying, abuse, or are otherwise in need of assistance.

According to STOPit, the service has been used to make more than 40,000+ life threatening interventions.

“Many of the behavior issues we see in schools actually start in other places, and specifically with social media and online platforms,” said Superintendent Jeff Simons. “STOPit will provide a way for our students and families to report these issues to us so they can be dealt with appropriately.”

The goal with STOPit is to create a safer, kinder, school community both online and off.

In addition to the reporting system, STOPit educates students in an age-appropriate way to:

  • Recognize the signs of at-risk behaviors
  • Take every sign and signal seriously
  • Alert designated administrators to issues and risks early, before they escalate
  • Report it anonymously through STOPit (App/Web or 24/7 Incident Response Center)

Protecting Privacy

No personal information is needed to use STOPit. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through STOPit is if a requester voluntarily includes it within the content of a request or message.

Both the East Greenbush CSD and STOPit are committed to protecting the privacy of student data. STOPit is a signatory to the Student Privacy Pledge, spearheaded by the Future of Privacy Forum and the Software & Information Industry Association. You may review STOPit’s Privacy Policy for details, including more information on how anonymous reporting works.

Educating Students

All East Greenbush CSD schools are sharing information with students about STOPit and how they can report signs of at-risk behavior. This information is being shared in an age-appropriate manner.

Educating Parents

We encourage parents to download the STOPit app and search for your students’ school using the directory. You can privately ask for help for your student, family, others you care about, or even acquaintances who appear to need help.
