The Howard L. Goff Middle School Science Olympiad team won 10 medals and placed 9th overall at the NYS Tournament earlier this month in Syracuse. Ryan Ecker and Amulya Ryali led the team, each winning three medals.
Of the 285 teams competing at the middle school level this year, only 40 qualified for the NYS Championships.
“The coaches are very proud of the students this year,” said Goff Science Olympiad Coach Donnamarie Vlieg. “The students set a goal to earn medals in at least four events and receive a top 10 finish at states. We were very happy with our 9th place finish and exceeding our medal goal! Congratulations to all the students for your hard work!”
