Columbia High School students Grayson Przybylek, Kyle Blake, Zack Vumbaco and Thomas Lento finished in 6th place at the Stock Market Challenge on Wednesday at Hudson Valley Community College.
Columbia High School students enrolled in Accounting attended the Stock Market Challenge sponsored by Junior Achievement on Wednesday at the McDonough Sports Complex at Hudson Valley Community College. There were more than 70 teams from local high schools that participated in the event modeled after the New York Stock Exchange. Students were given options to purchase stocks from more than 100 companies through the simulated activity. Each team purchased their stocks with a budget of $1 million.
Business Teacher Katrina Gruet helped prepare the students with five lessons consisting of stock research, tracking and monitoring.
One of Columbia’s teams, including Grayson Przybylek, Kyle Blake, Zack Vumbaco and Thomas Lento, finished in 6th place.
