All 8th grade students from Howard L. Goff Middle School attended Career Jam at Siena College on Tuesday to explore career opportunities and the direct skills needed to become productive members of the local workforce in the future.
Students learned about potential careers across the business, trade labor, and public sectors. They also participated in interactive activities that engaged and inspired students.
With a focus on the education-to-workforce pipeline, Career Jam aims to promote the diverse career paths available in the Capital Region by raising student awareness.
“Highlighting these options earlier can help influence student education choices and retain their talents to fill local jobs that can empower future economic growth,” said Intro to CTE – Home & Career Skills teacher Debreen Oliva. “In addition to highlighting the skills needed by area employers, students were also able to explore pathways to gain skills that will prepare them for rewarding jobs that are needed in our community.”
