Green Meadow Elementary School practiced an evacuation and relocation safety drill on Wednesday morning as all students and staff boarded school buses and were brought to Genet Elementary School. Upon arriving at Genet, the Green Meadow students followed their teachers into the auditorium and sat with their classes.
The Green Meadow and Genet school safety teams worked together to practice the reunification process that would be used to dismiss students to a parent or approved guardian in the event of a real emergency.
Once the reunification process was completed, students and staff left Genet and were brought back to Green Meadow to continue their school day.
“Our students did an outstanding job during today’s drill,” said Green Meadow Principal Daniel Garab. “They remained quiet and followed the directions of teachers and staff through the entirety of the drill. I want to thank our teachers and staff at Green Meadow for leading our students through this important drill, as well as, Principal Grignon and the Genet safety team, our bus drivers, and the East Greenbush and Schodack Police Departments who participated in the drill.”
All schools in the East Greenbush Central School District practice a variety of safety drills in accordance with the District-wide Safety Plan and New York State requirements such as fire drills, secured lockout drills, lockdown drills, and evacuation drills.
