The Goff Jazz Band participated in the Music in the Parks Competition on Friday in Massachusetts, placing first in their division and earning a Superior Rating.
The group performed three selections:
- “Orange Sherbert” arranged by Sammy Nestico
- “Undercover Bossa” composed by Jeff Jarvis
- “Gonna Fly Now” arranged by Victor Lopez
Soloists included Soham Shah on vibes and drumset, Brayden Russell on trumpet, Tristan Murphy on trombone, Julia Krisanda on vibes, Hudson Hodd on trumpet, and Caleb Romero on tenor sax.
Tristan Murphy won the award for outstanding individual solo/improvisation.
“The jazz band performed exceptionally well, winning first place in our division, as well as having the highest overall score for jazz band in all divisions, and earning one of only two Superior Ratings regardless of ensemble type,” said Goff Jazz Band Director David Bresnahan.
