Columbia Key Club students delivering free books to Red Mill students

Columbia Key Club students delivered free books to Red Mill students on Monday afternoon as a service project for the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy.

Columbia Key Club students are participating in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy this school year, which is a national high school leadership program focused on impact through action. The program includes volunteer opportunities through service projects and a curriculum that teaches students specific skills such as communication, teamwork and servant leadership.

The students in Key Club completed their first service project on Monday afternoon when they delivered free children’s books to all kindergarten and first grade students at Red Mill Elementary School. The books were donated by Chick-fil-A, Inc., and then packaged by the Columbia students and brought to Red Mill.

Other service projects will include a canned food drive during the holidays called Do Good December and the Impact Project, in which students work as one group to put the leadership principles they have learned into practice in the community.

The curriculum is comprised of seven Leader Labs, including:

  • Vision & Values
  • Servant Leadership
  • Teamwork
  • Innovation
  • Communication
  • Impact
