Columbia High School celebrated its October Students of the Month earlier this week. Each student winner was nominated by a teacher or staff member for various categories such as Academics, Citizenship and Most Improved. Congratulations!

Keegan Boomer - Student of the Month
Keegan Boomer (Grade 9)

Nominated by: D. Gonyea & J. Vendlands for Citizenship

“Keegan has worked so hard in his academics. He is a model student. He is pleasant to those around him. If needed, he will explain academics to kids without asking. When things are tough, you can see him implementing all his coping skills. He greets all staff members. He has been tutoring kids in Earth Science when he is caught up. Keegan has also been cleaning the kitchen in Guidance. He has been wiping down the tables and cabinets. He has also cleaned the sink and counters without being asked to do it.”

Giana Weiss - Student of the Month
Giana Weiss (Grade 10)

Nominated by: F. Rudofsky for Academics

“Giana has been an exceptional presenter in Public Speaking, an A+ student in the first quarter. Her presentations are polished, engaging and memorable. Moreover, she is supportive of her fellow students in their own efforts, which is invaluable to the chemistry of the class of 16.”

Trevor Garrison - Student of the Month
Trevor Garrison (Grade 11)

Nominated by: J. DeFrias & V. Gordon for Citizenship & Academics

“Trevor has been an asset to our class. He is hard-working, gregarious, and sensitive to the needs of his classmates. For instance, he has consistently worked through a revolving door of absentee partners, catching them up and including them on future plans. Other students have not only benefited from Trevor’s intelligence and comprehension, but they have smiled and laughed with him while improving their own self-confidence because of their time working with him. He is a model student.”

Emma Potter - Student of the Month
Emma Potter (Grade 12)

Nominated by: Mr. Harkin for Citizenship

“Emma has a positive attitude and smile everyday. She is a great teammate. Emma volunteered at the CRASE training by working with elementary students so their parents could attend the event.”
