Christopher Henderson, a seventh and eighth grade English teacher at Howard L. Goff Middle School, hosted an Author Day to speak with students about the three books he has published and to give them an inside look at the novel-writing process. Mr. Henderson, who has been writing novels and screenplays for several years was excited to have this opportunity to share his passion of writing with his students.

“I’ve always been writing for the kids, so to be able to come down and talk to them about publishing and writing, to me it’s really important,” he said. He went on to say that he enjoys showing students that teachers still pursue their passions outside of the classroom.

Mr. Henderson is the author of three Young Adult books: Miles Away: The Crisis Saga and Fenicus Flint & the Dragon of Berathor, both fantasy novels, and his most recent novel MMA: Broken Bond, which was influenced by his experience in martial arts that he practiced since he was a teenage.

Mr. Henderson hopes that he can inspire students to discover their own passion for writing. “If I can inspire any kid to do this and give them good feedback and good advice on how to to go forward, that’s important to me and makes me happy,” he said.

The East Greenbush Community Library will be holding its first ever Local Author Fair on Sunday, November 10 from 2-4 p.m which will feature Mr. Henderson and several other members of the East Greenbush CSD. This events is an exciting chance to engage with local authors.
