Five schools in the East Greenbush Central School District – Howard L. Goff Middle School and Bell Top, Genet, Red Mill and Donald P. Sutherland Elementary Schools – were selected to the 2025 Best Elementary Schools and Best Middle Schools rankings, which were released earlier this month.
The 2025 Best Elementary and Best Middle Schools rankings are based on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education.
Each of the award winning schools ranked in the top 40% in their state based on proficiency in mathematics and reading, as measured by state assessment tests while accounting for student backgrounds, achievement in core subjects, and how well schools are educating their students.
“Schools play a vital role in our communities. Parents want to ensure that the schools their child attends provide a high-quality learning environment,” LaMont Jones, managing editor for education at U.S. News. “The 2025 Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings not only offer accessible data but it also provides a valuable insight into how well elementary and middle schools are supporting and preparing students for high school.”
All East Greenbush CSD schools are in good standing according to the NYS Education Department.
This is the second year in a row that Goff Middle School was named to the U.S. News & World Report Best School Rankings.
“I am proud of the leadership, faculty and staff of each of our schools in the district,” said Superintendent Jeff Simons. “To achieve our board’s vision, we work together as one school community to ensure success for all students. U.S. News and World Report’s recent announcement of top performing schools validates our efforts to be future driven and to ensure we educate the whole child.”
Congratulations to each of our award winning schools!
