The Student Council at Genet Elementary School has had a busy and impactful start to the school year!
In October, they held their annual Candygram sale where they raised $907.10 by selling 1,800 Candygrams to students in Genet. The proceeds have been donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Sean Jucha, a former Genet student.
The council also organized “Socktober,” a sock drive where they collected 531 pairs of adult and children socks. These will be donated to the Rensselaer Street Soldiers and the St. Paul Center in Rensselaer.
Student Council advisors Ms. Davis and Ms. Martino expressed their gratitude to the community and students at Genet for their generosity during these fundraisers. “Even the smallest hands can make a big difference. When elementary students give their time and effort to a good cause, they show us the power of kindness and teamwork, and the belief that everyone can help build a better world,” they shared.
