Visit our Facebook page to see inside the classroom of the Bell Top Makerspace. Students in Tara Thompson’s 3rd grade class visited the school library on Wednesday afternoon to test their structures in the Marble Run STEM Challenge. Students worked in groups to plan, design and build the structures out of cardboard, paper towel rolls and tape. The goal was to keep the marble moving for more than 10 seconds as it rolled down their structure.
The class visited the library eight times during the last month to complete the project with assistance from Library Media Specialist Felice Devine and parent volunteers.
The engineering activity helped students develop Portrait of a Graduate skills including Effective Communicator, Adaptable and Critical Thinker. They also learned more about STEM topics and working together in teams.
Inside the Classroom will be a regular feature on our website and Facebook page in which we highlight the learning that goes on in our classrooms.
