Visit our Facebook page to see inside the classroom of Jamie Holtz’s Physical Education class at Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School. On Thursday morning, students in Jennifer Reddy’s 5th grade class rotated through five different stations in the gym as part of the Speed Unit.

The class began with Mr. Holtz showing students a video of Olympic sprinter Sha’carri Richardson on a smart board so they could see proper form. He pointed out where her legs moved to maximize power and the calmness of her face.

Students then rotated through stations, which included bungee cords pulling the students forward, sleds with weights, and parachutes. During class, Mr. Holtz would take video of students running and then show them the video, what they did well and what they could improve. He also set up radar speed guns so students could measure how fast they were running.

Inside the Classroom will be a regular feature on our website and Facebook page in which we highlight the learning that goes on in our classrooms.
