Columbia’s Junior Class is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City on Saturday, May 3, 2025, that includes the option to see “Gypsy” at the Majestic Theatre. The trip is open to students, families, staff and friends in the East Greenbush school community.

Musical Option: We are excited to offer the opportunity to purchase tickets to see Gypsy at 2:00 PM at the Majestic Theatre, located at 245 West 44th Street. Gypsy tells the story of Rose, a domineering stage mother who relentlessly pushes her two daughters, June and Louise, toward vaudeville stardom in the early 20th century. The musical delves into the struggles of theater performers, the complex mother-daughter dynamic, and the transition from vaudeville to burlesque and radio. Widely regarded as one of the crowning achievements of mid-20th century musical theater, Gypsy has been hailed by numerous critics and writers as the greatest American musical. This production features six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald in the iconic role of Rose. Celebrated for her extraordinary voice and dynamic performances, McDonald holds the record for the most Tony Awards earned by any performer and is the only person to win in all four acting categories. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to see a Broadway legend in action! The musical is recommended for ages 10+.

Itinerary:
- Depart from Columbia High School at 7:30 am on a Yankee Trails bus
- Arrive at Bryant Park (42nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues) at approximately 10:30 am
- Spend the day in NYC/Option to see Gypsy at 2 pm
- Depart from Bryant Park at 7:30 pm
- Arrive at Columbia High School at approximately 10:45 pm
