Eighth grade student Tristan Murphy has been selected to participate in the New York State Band Directors Association (NYSBDA) Middle School Honor Band on March 7-8 in Syracuse. Tristan plays the trombone and is the first student from Howard L. Goff Middle School to be selected to participate in this prestigious ensemble in at least the past 23 years.
NYSBDA received hundreds of applications from middle school students expressing an interest in being a part of this group. Tristan was selected based on his past musical accomplishments, such as Rensselaer All-County Band, Suburban Council Middle School Band, and NYSSMA Solo festival.
As part of the NYSBDA Middle School Honor Band, Tristan will join approximately 100 students from across the state to participate in rehearsals and perform at a concert.
