Columbia Girls’ Wrestler Bella Satalino completed an undefeated season by winning a New York State Wrestling Championship on Thursday at MVP Arena in Albany. Satalino won all four of her tournament matches in the 138 pound weight class, finishing the season with a 42-0 record. She is the first wrestler in school history (for boys or girls) to finish the season undefeated.
Satalino earned the top seed in the bracket based on her regular season record. She then won three of her tournament matches by technical fall (10-0, 11-1, 10-0) and one by pinning her opponent.
“It feels great,” Satalino told the Times Union after winning the title. “Having so many supporters out there, keeping my mind strong, not letting me get down on myself if I feel nervous, it means a lot.”
Congratulations to Bella Satalino!
