Genet Odyssey of the Mind team
Seven teams from the East Greenbush Central School District competed in the Odyssey of the Mind Region 4 Tournament on Saturday in Coxsackie-Athens, New York.

Of the five competitive East Greenbush teams, all had top-three finishes for their problems and divisions and two finished in first and will advance to the New York State finals on April 4 in Syracuse. The DPS teams that placed first competed in Problem 2, “Mech-Animal Sidekick” and Problem 5, “AstronOMical Odyssey.”

Genet’s team tackled Problem 3, “Classics….Cooking With Books” and came in second place. For that same problem, Goff Middle School had their team place second as well. Goff’s other team had a 3rd place finish, competed in Problem 1, “The OM-azing Race.”

Two Primary Teams, grades K-2, from Donald P. Sutherland performed in a non-competitive manner and received rave reviews by Odyssey Judges for their long-term problem performances of “It’s a Wonderful World!”

This year’s Odyssey team t-shirts were designed by DPS’s Problem 5 Team.

Every fall, East Greenbush looks for parents and community members to become volunteer coaches. Each school can have up to five teams.

“We are grateful for some long-term coaches who have taken on a team year after year, and welcome new coaches so that more students can become involved next year,” said Odyssey of the Mind District Coordinator Julie Adadjo.

Congratulations to all of our Odyssey of the Mind teams!
