Green Meadow kindergarten students in Mrs. Maney, Mrs. DiBella and Mrs. Tarbox‘s classes learned about maps and globes recently as part of the Social Studies curriculum.
The teachers invited the community to send them postcards during the month of February so students could find those locations on maps and globes. In response, the classes received more than 100 cards and postcards from around the world, including 46 states in America and from four continents.
The teachers displayed a world map and a U.S. map in the kindergarten wing, decorated with the cards they received, and stuck little hearts on the maps for each of the locations.
“A special thank you to all of our family and friends, retired teachers, and even our retired nurse Kathy for sending the AMAZING cards,” said Mrs. Maney. “A special shout out to East Greenbush graduate Trey Wadsworth for sending us postcards from over 27 States and two territories. These were postcards he collected after visiting 398 National Parks. This was such a memorable way to learn about maps and globes!”
