The East Greenbush Teachers Association celebrated Epilepsy Awareness Day on Friday. Teachers wore purple to help raise awareness, reduce stigma, and show support for those living with epilepsy. They also collected donations for the Dravet Foundation to support groundbreaking gene therapy trials. Dravet Syndrome is a rare and severe form of epilepsy affecting 1 in 15,700 individuals.
The East Greenbush CSD has supported this cause in recent years by providing training to staff and students on the signs of seizures and what to do if they see someone having a seizure.
