Columbia High School’s Multicultural Fair celebrates the diverse cultures within our district and the broader East Greenbush Community. Each spring, the fair features student-created displays, cultural artifacts, music, food and performances. This year, students celebrating their Dominican culture organized a group dance lesson.

First held in 2018, the Multicultural Fair has become a tradition that offers attendees an immersive experience of global tradition and perspectives.

The fair serves as an educational platform, allowing students to showcase their heritage and learn about others, fostering empathy and understanding. This imitative not only promotes cultural awareness, but also reinforces the school’s commitment to inclusivity and respect for diversity.

“The fair has become a cherished tradition that unites students, families, and community members,” said Columbia High School Social Studies Department Chair Wendy McAlonie. “It exemplifies the school’s dedication to creating an environment where every culture is acknowledged and celebrated, contributing to a more inclusive and understand school community.”

Special thanks to Social Studies Teacher Wendy McAlonie and the Social Studies Department, Rho Kappa, the Columbia Maintenance Staff, Columbia and East Greenbush CSD Administrators, and our musicians!
