Third grade students at Green Meadow Elementary School celebrated Earth Day on Tuesday by making their own potted plants. All three classes went outside and filled small pots with soil and then chose seeds to have planted in them. They had a choice of marigold, sunflower, pumpkin, sweet corn, tomato and watermelon seeds.
The hands-on activity was led by volunteers from Walmart. They provided all of the supplies and helped the students make their own plants.
Afterward, students were able to sign an Earth Day poster and add their names and illustrations to them.
