Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School celebrated National Take a Chance Day on Wednesday by hosting engaging activities for students such as skateboarding, cookie decorating, sign language, and yoga. Each of the 20 activities was led by a faculty or staff member and provided the opportunity for kids to try something new.
“National Take a Chance Day aligns to our theme for this school year,” said DPS Principal Jack Alvey. “Students had the opportunity to ‘Take a Chance’ and try an enrichment activity led by our team at DPS that was of interest to them. We had such a nice mix of activities for students to choose. I appreciate the work our team placed into this special event at DPS.
“It was a true joy to see students from different grade levels and classes engage with one another and have an opportunity to work with adults that they may not traditionally work with,” Mr. Alvey continued. “There was a high level of excitement in the air. A special thank you to our Character Education Committee and our PTO for all of their support to make this day a huge success! Our Character Education team is very excited to reveal our school theme for the 2025-2026 school year at our final character education assembly in June!”
