Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School recently installed two new water heaters after one of the school’s units failed, leaving the building reliant on a second aging system. This repair was an emergency project, separate from the 2024 Capital Project, but was essential to maintain building operations.
The new water heaters cost $114,000 and were installed over Spring Break. The project was approved by the New York State Education Department as an emergency project and 72% of the cost will be reimbursed to the district over the next 15 years.
