Red Mill Elementary School read more than 1 million minutes during this year’s Read for Ronald McDonald House Charities campaign. A total of 351 students participated in the February reading initiative, raising $7,456 through pledges and donations based on the time they spent reading.
In addition to their fundraising efforts, students collected 78 pounds of pull tabs to support Ronald McDonald House Charities, which recycles the aluminum to help fund its mission.
To celebrate their hard work and generosity—and with the warmer weather finally here—the school hosted a assembly where top readers and fundraisers got the chance to dunk their teachers. Students lined up to dunk Mrs. Deer, Mrs. Santillo, Mr. Welge, Mrs. Adams, Ms. Marra, Mr. Harde, and even Principal Mrs. Squillace in the water.
“We couldn’t be prouder of our Red Mill Readers,” said librarian Liz Griffin. “Their enthusiasm for reading and dedication to helping others is truly inspiring. Whether they were tracking their minutes or collecting tabs, they gave it their all. Thank you, Reading Rockstars!”
Congratulations to all of our students!
