In anticipation of extreme heat next week and its impact on health and safety in schools, the East Greenbush Central School District will have half days for grades PK-8 on Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24. The current weather forecast shows temperatures in the mid-90s and a heat index reaching 105 degrees.
Dismissing early on these days will allow students to get home before the temperatures rise to their highest points. Classrooms become uncomfortable and present potential health issues in extreme heat.
The district is announcing the half days now so that families have time to make any arrangements for child care, if needed.
Columbia High School is unaffected by the anticipated heat wave. Classes have ended for the year and students can take their Regents and Local Exams in air conditioned spaces.
Dismissal Times:
- Goff: 10:40 a.m.
- Pre-K (DPS/Genet/Green Meadow/Red Mill): 10:45 a.m.
- Genet: 11:15 a.m.
- Bell Top: 11:30 a.m.
- DPS: 11:30 a.m.
- Green Meadow: 11:30 a.m.
- Red Mill: 11:30 a.m.
