Columbia High School graduate Alivia Landy ’25 has been named a finalist for the 2025 Capital District Sports Woman of the Year. Landy was a standout three-sport athlete for the Blue Devils, competing in volleyball, basketball and flag football.
Landy is one of 10 high school students, along with four collegiate athletes, to be nominated by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year. The organization, which honors female student-athletes in the Capital Region for their academic, athletic and community achievements, will crown its Grand Scholastic and Grand Collegiate Sports Women of the Year winners during its annual awards gala on Monday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Proctors in Schenectady. Tickets are available for purchase for the event.
Landy graduated from Columbia in June with an advanced regent’s diploma. She had a 95.5 final weighted average, and was a member of the Math League, Student Council and a Devil’s Advocate.
Athletically, she was a First-Team All-State selection for the Columbia volleyball team last fall, where she was also a team captain. As a basketball player, she was a First-Team All-State selection, a Times Union First-Team All-Star and the Suburban Council’s 2024-25 Player of the Year as she wrapped up a career in which she scored more than 1,000 points. She was also a key member of Columbia’s flag football team that reached the state semifinals this past spring, earning Section II Defensive Player of the Year honors as a junior and a senior.
In the community, Landy volunteered in youth camps in all three of her sports. She joined her basketball teammates in the Adopt-A-Family program and wrote Valentine’s Day cards for residents at senior homes. She helped at the Columbia Multicultural Fair and served as a volunteer coach with the Unified basketball team.
Congratulations!
