Columbia High School is offering two new teams for this coming fall – Boys’ Modified 9 Soccer and Girls’ Modified 9 Soccer. Tryouts begin on Tuesday, September 2.

Columbia High School is offering two new interscholastic teams for this fall – Boys’ Modified 9 Soccer and Girls’ Modified 9 Soccer. The announcement was made by Superintendent Dr. Kurtis Kotes at the public Board of Education meeting on Wednesday evening.
The decision to add the teams was based on several factors, including strong student interest and an analysis of other schools in the Suburban Council.
Last year, 20 students were cut from the boys’ soccer program. While there were no cuts from the girls’ soccer program, there continues to be a high level of interest in the program.
“It is always exciting when we can offer additional programs for our students,” said Columbia Athletic Director Ryan Jones. “This is a great opportunity to expand our athletic offerings and provide more involvement for our student-athletes to develop their skills and passion for the sport. It is a fantastic step in continuing our commitment in fostering lifelong health and fitness for students.”
Interested students can register for tryouts via FamilyID. Tryouts begin on Tuesday, September 2.
The East Greenbush Central School District has appointed coaches for the existing varsity, JV and modified soccer teams for both boys and girls. Applications are being accepted for the two new modified 9 soccer teams through August 15.
Columbia now offers 35 different teams for the fall sports season:

- Volleyball (Boys) – Varsity, JV, Modified
