The following letter was mailed home to Genet parents/caregivers on Monday, August 18.
Dear Genet Families and Students,
I’m thrilled to welcome you back to Genet Elementary School for another exciting school year! The summer months have flown by, and the Genet Team and I cannot wait to reconnect with our wonderful school community. I hope this letter finds you and your family well and that you’ve had a restful and rejuvenating summer filled with fun, relaxation, and new experiences.
I would like to welcome back all of our returning students and families, and to all of our new students and their families, officially Welcome to the Genet Family! As we gear up for this new academic year, the team and I are eager to create a vibrant and engaging learning environment where every student can reach their full potential.
Our first day of school for all students will be on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025. School opens to students at 8:40 a.m. and dismissal is 3:10 p.m..
Enclosed with this mailing is your child’s classroom/teacher assignment. School supply list for each grade level and busing information is also enclosed and can be found on Genet’s webpage on our district website on the Parent Information tab.
Our PTO will be sponsoring our Back to School Ice Cream Social on Friday, September 5th beginning at 5:30 p.m. in our courtyard by the playground. This is a great event for families to get together after a long summer. More details will be coming leading up to the start of the school year.
Some additional dates that I would like you to be aware of as we start the school year are as follows:
- Open House for Grades PreK-2: Tuesday, September 16th at 6:30 p.m.
- Open House for Grades 3-5: Thursday, September 30th at 6:30 p.m.
- Genet Picture Day: Wednesday, September 24th
- Genet Scholastic Fall Book Fair: Week of October 6th through October 10th
Genet is very excited to welcome many new staff members joining our team this year:
- Mrs. Patricia White, School Psychologist
- TBD, Teaching Assistant Language Concepts 3-5
At the close of the 24-25 school year, we collected all Chromebooks back from students for maintenance, updates and switching out with newer models. If your child has theirs at home or found one that was missing, please send in the Chromebook with your child on the first day of school. If you happened to find a charger please send that in as well. All student entering grades K-5 and students new to the district will be issued devices during the beginning weeks of school.
On Tuesday, September 2nd, we will be holding our “Kindergarten Meet and Greet.” Information regarding this event is within Kindergarten Welcome Packets. This will be a time to visit their kindergarten classrooms, drop off supplies, and meet the teachers and take their first bus ride before the new school year begins. Additional details are enclosed for kindergarten parents. There will be a time during the day for any new student to Genet. New students, not entering Kindergarten, to Genet can visit their new school Tuesday, September 2nd in the afternoon from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Arrival and dismissal procedures for parents driving students to and/or from school are outlined in this link: Parent Transport Procedures. Please be patient during the first few days of school as we streamline our procedures and become more acquainted with our families. If you plan on transporting your child to and from school daily, please e-mail Mrs. Caren Sager at SagerCa@egcsd.org. If we are not notified of a parent pick-up in advance, your child will be sent home on the bus. It is encouraged that all students ride the school bus to help alleviate the congestion during parent drop off/pickup times.
I want to reiterate how excited the Genet Team and I are to be part of your child(ren)’s educational journey. Please know that my door is always open to support our students and their families. I look forward to working with each of you.
In closing, I would like to share with you a saying that has become part of Genet’s culture and is reinforced daily with our school. We share with our students that we want them to “Work Hard, Be Nice, and Have Fun” each and every day at Genet. I wish you all the best this year!
Sincerely,
Wayne Grignon
Principal
