The following information is being posted on ParentSquare for parents/guardians on August 22, 2025.
The East Greenbush Central School District will be offering a Distraction-Free Schools presentation in advance of the new school year so all students and families are aware of the new state law and how it will be implemented in East Greenbush schools.
The new policy prohibits internet-enabled personal electronic devices, such as cell phones and smart watches, during the school day for K-12 students starting in September.
The presentation will be pre-recorded and then made available online so families can watch it at their own convenience. The presentation will include a panel of teachers, staff and students. They will provide an overview of the new Distraction-Free Schools policy, how it complies with state law, research conducted by the district’s cell phone committee, and procedures at each school level.
The panel will also answer questions that are submitted in advance.
