DPS Principal Mr. Alvey with former DPS fifth-grader Blake Leone and his family after the flag reveal.

On Friday afternoon, DPS held a school-wide Character Assembly highlighting September’s character trait “Respect”. Fifth-graders performed a song about respect, showcasing ways students can demonstrate ways they can be respectful toward one another.

The assembly concluded with the unveiling of the 2025-2026 DPS Flag, designed by former DPS fifth-grader Blake Leone. Now a sixth-grade student at Goff Middle School, Blake returned to help Mr. Alvey reveal the new flag which featured DPS mascot, Spirit, and the motto “Take a Chance.”
