Four Bell Top Elementary School students had their short stories selected for publication in the anthology “Scary Tales: Into the Shadows.” Third graders Carter Loudis, Emery Greenough, Quinn Brassel and Madison Monuteaux wrote 100-word stories as part of a national creative writing contest sponsored by Young Writers USA.

The students wrote their stories during enrichment class last year with Library Media Specialist Felice Devine.

Each of the students received copies of the book last week.

“It was such a joy to celebrate creativity with this group of students,” said Mrs. Devine. “Each student poured imagination and hard work into their story, taking a tiny spark of an idea and growing it into a polished, spooky finished product. Now, they can hold their book and proudly say, ‘I’m a published author!’”
