Columbia High School celebrated its October Students of the Month last week. Each student winner was nominated by a teacher or staff member for various categories such as Academics, Citizenship and Most Improved. Congratulations!

Brianna Yeboah- Grade 9
Nominated by Mrs. Weiss for Academics
“Brianna currently has a 99% average in English! She is so diligent and hard-working. Additionally, she is a frequent participant in class. Every day, she positively contributes to class discussions. She is a true role model not only in class but for the whole school! Great job Brianna!”

Brian Bargy- Grade 10
Nominated by Ms. Neiman for Citizenship
“I have had the pleasure of teaching Brian for the past 2 years. He is always the first student to lend a helping hand. He is excellent with technology and great at troubleshooting when my computer or ViewSonic Board act up. Yesterday, he took the lead, and offered to create the name tags for his 20+ peers attending the Equine Program trip to Little Brook Farm. He also carried the heavy tote, with the items needed for our trip, on and off the bus and back to my car. Speaking of Little Brook Farms, he started volunteering there on weekends after our first Equine Program session last fall. He brings friends with him and they do large, clean-up projects so that the rescue horses have clean stalls and pastures. Since he is so familiar with the adult volunteers there and all the horses, it is wonderful to have him come along on our Equine Program trips. Brian is polite, engaged and very personable. He is a pleasure to have in class, and I am so proud of him for the way he is getting involved in the community!”

Matthew Mosden- Grade 11
Nominated by Mr. Lynagh & Mr. Margielewski for Citizenship
“Matthew is beginning his 3rd year at the Student Help Desk. Matthew has always completed any tasks we give him and has provided excellent customer service skills to both fellow students and faculty members. This year, Matthew has taken on a leadership role at the Help Desk. He is explaining proper repair and customer service techniques to new members at the Help Desk. Matthew is also encouraging new members to try the Student Help Desk to see if they would like this as a volunteer opportunity. For these reasons, we believe Matthew is very deserving of Student of the Month recognition.”

Lindsey Johnson- Grade 12
Nominated by Mr. Rudofsky for Academics
“Lindsey’s been the top student with a 98 thus far in Public Speaker. She brings an impressive mix of energy, poise, and preparation to her presentations; the class is often in awe of her style and how she goes deep into the subject matter.”

Camren Batchelder- Grade 12
Nominated by Mrs. Peffers & Ms. Culligan for Academics & Most Improved
“Camren’s grades are in the 90’s. He is a leader in the class, answering nearly all of the questions and keeping the other students on track. He is a true asset to the class and should be recognized for his ability to improve.”
