Columbia High School crowned the 2025-26 Blue Devil of the Year at the Homecoming Football Game on Friday evening. Out of three finalists from the senior class, Kaden Witte ’26 was chosen following an essay contest and a vote of the student body.

During the announcement to the crowd, Mr. Witte donned a blue cloak and he held a golden trident staff.

Mr. Witte embodies the characteristics of Blue Devil of the Year, which include:

  • Represents Columbia High School as a positive role model and leader
  • Shows school spirit and an interest in making Columbia a better place through involvement in the school community
  • Shows compassion and care for others
  • Is in good academic and disciplinary standing

A committed member of Columbia’s Student Council Executive Board, as well as Amnesty International and the Columbia Players, Mr. Witte’s dedication to Columbia is evident. He has performed in high school musicals and he worked to bring back Columbia’s Once Upon a Stage cabaret show. Staff and peers would describe Kaden as joyful, eager to make Columbia a better place, and inclusive of all types of people.

“Throughout my entire life at Columbia, I have been active and strived to be the best Blue Devil I can,” he said.
