The East Greenbush Central School District won a statewide award on Thursday from the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA) through its 46th annual awards contest.
Of the 470 total entries from across the state, only 144 were selected for awards.
The award was given in the category of Strategic Campaign for “Seeking a Supermajority for the School Budget.” The campaign showed how the district informed voters of the proposed school budget in May using the RPIE strategic planning method of Research, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation. Some of the work included:
- Budget information and updates on the school website
- Trifold brochure
- Budget newsletter
- Infographic
- Podcast episode
- Community presentations
- Videos
- Notifications to staff and parents/guardians
Ultimately, voters passed the school budget with 65.5 percent approval.
NYSPRA is a state chapter of the National School Public Relations Association. It is dedicated to the development and dissemination of educational communications that engage parents, staff, community residents, partners in education and other stakeholders.
