Students in grades 3–5 get the chance to predict the 2025 Caldecott Medal Winner in Mrs. O’Connor’s Library class. On Tuesday, Ms. D’Amico’s 5th-grade class had their first day exploring books nominated for the 2025 Caldecott Medal Award. Each student read through as many books as they could and used the same evaluation system the Caldecott committee uses to rate each book.

The Caldecott Medal is awarded to the artist of the most distinguished picture book of the year.

Students will review all 58 books, selecting their favorites based on how the illustrations enhance the story’s mood, and the techniques used in the artwork.
