Columbia’s Junior Class hosted a Parents Night Out event on Saturday where Columbia High School students spent the evening supervising and engaging with elementary aged children, giving parents the chance to enjoy a “kid-free” night out. The event was open to all K–5 students.
Throughout the night, children were able to choose from a variety of activities, including games in the gym, arts and crafts, and board games. Gym activities featured kickball, volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, and several other games. In Arts and Crafts, students were encouraged to use their imaginations to create their own projects. Some of the favorites included snowmen, googly-eyed aliens, and baskets. The Board Game area offered a quiet space for kids to play cards, enjoy board games, or simply draw and color.
Dinner included pizza for everyone, and the evening wrapped up in the auditorium with a screening of the movie Freaky Friday.
“This continues to be one of our favorite fundraisers each year,” said Columbia Class of 2027 Co-Advisor Scott Monuteaux. “The kids love interacting with the high school student volunteers, and it provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to give back to the community. The children truly seemed to enjoy the activities, and parents expressed their appreciation for the chance to have a night out. We also want to acknowledge the Columbia student volunteers, whose enthusiasm and commitment are a major reason the event runs so smoothly. The Class of 2027 looks forward to hosting another Parents’ Night Out this spring.”
