The spirit of service and literacy shone brightly at Green Meadow Elementary School on Friday afternoon as members of Columbia Key Club delivered special gifts to kindergarten and 1st grade students. A group of five Key Club students, joined by their advisor Nicole Conte, Chick-fil-A North Greenbush Owner Will Potts, and Principal Dan Garab, visited the classrooms to hand out free books to the young readers.

Each kindergarten and 1st grade student received a bundle of five animal-themed books, generously provided by Chick-fil-A in North Greenbush. Included in each bundle was a handwritten note from a Columbia Key Club student.

The community service project is part of Key Club’s participation in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. This initiative empowers students to develop leadership skills such as communication and teamwork through impactful service projects that benefit the local community.

“Watching the kids smile and get excited about books really made my day,” said Caidyn Albano ’26! “I loved being able to walk back into the elementary school and feel that same excitement I did when I was their age!”
