On Friday afternoon, during the Annual Read-A-Thon kickoff at Donald P. Sutherland, Librarian Peg O’Connor and Art Teacher Dianne Chalavoutis, dressed in ancient Greek clothing, surprised students at a school-wide assembly by giving a free book to each student as part of the  One School, One Book Read-A-Thon Challenge.

This year, thanks to a generous donation, every student received a copy of Magic Tree House: Hour of the Olympics by Mary Pope Osborne, tying in with DPS’s “Go for the Gold” theme for the school year.

The school has set a goal to read 13,067 minutes, encouraging students to build a love a reading through a fun school-wide challenge.
